Fatty Liver is a condition where fat builds up in the liver. It can happen due to obesity, heavy drinking, or other health issues. Signs of Fatty Liver include feeling tired, yellow skin, and belly pain.
Doctors usually find it using a liver ultrasound. Treatment can vary, from lifestyle changes to medicines or removing the fat through surgery. In this article, we’ll explore what causes Fatty Liver, its signs, how doctors diagnose it, and ways to treat it.
Understanding Fatty Liver
Fatty Liver happens when the liver gets too much fat. It can result from being overweight, eating too much fat, having diabetes, or drinking too much alcohol. Sometimes, other health problems like liver disease, hemochromatosis, or harmful drugs can also make the liver store fat. When there’s too much fat in the liver, we call it Fatty Liver Disease, or steatosis. It can be mild or severe, depending on how much fat is there.
Signs and Symptoms of Fatty Liver Disease
Fatty Liver is often a silent illness, meaning it doesn’t always show symptoms. But in some cases, people with Fatty Liver might notice these signs:
Feeling tired
Yellow skin and eyes (jaundice)
Belly pain
Losing weight without changing your diet
In severe cases, the liver can get too damaged to work properly, leading to liver failure.
